Your heating and cooling system/systems filters
are typically located in any of three places. Please select the link
below that applies to your system/systems.
Interior of Equipment
Typically 1 inch in thickness, the filter mounts in the interior of
the gas furnace or air handler. It may slide in through a narrow slot
in the face of the furnace or air handler or it may mount within the
main body of the unit by removing the face of the unit.
Return Air Filter Frame
Typically 1 inch in thickness, the filter mounts within a metal hinged
frame devise. This may be installed in either the ceiling or on the
side of a wall. In addition, there may be more than one of these per
system. For instance, there may be one in a living space and one in
a master bedroom. In some cases, rather than the 1 inch filter there
could be a 5 inch media style.
Cabinet Style Mounted
Typically a 5 inch media style filter, it will be mounted in a metal
or thick plastic cabinet installed either beneath or beside the gas
furnace or air handler. This cabinet will usually have an access door
on the front of the cabinet, which may be removed, to gain access to
slide the filter out.
