Heating & Cooling Service Issues

When it comes to servicing heating and cooling equipment we have one word of advise.... Maintenance! It's a pretty safe assumption that most people don't bother to make any effort here when it comes to heating and cooling equipment. Do you keep your car tuned up? Do you get your car's oil changed on a regular basis? Well, why do you ignore your heating and cooling equipment? With proper care and maintenance your system will last many more years and will operate much more efficiently. Did you know that just a 20% low charge in your cooling system's refrigerant can cause your system to operate at a much more lower efficiency, causing your utility bill to skyrocket?

Equipment maintenance involves only a few simple things for a homeowner. The first thing to remember and do religiously is changing the filter. Whether it's a cheap disposable 1-inch filter or a high efficiency 5-inch media-style, get in the habit of keeping it clean. This will keep your equipment clean, your indoor air clean, and will let your unit run at its optimal efficiency. Our other suggestion is planned maintenance. At minimum, once a year and ideally, twice a year your system should be given a thorough check-up. H.V.A.C. contractors live to sell these planned agreements, often called ESA's, or energy savings agreements, which refers to the energy saved when a system operates properly. If a homeowner prefers, he may also pay the contractor to come in at scheduled intervals to supply and change filters at an additional cost.

If you would like, you may use our contractor referral service and we will give you referral on a qualified contractor to get a planned maintenance agreement quote.
